Xtandi is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer in adult men. It contains Enzalutamide 40mg, which belongs to a group of medicines called androgen receptor inhibitors. The medicine works by blocking the effects of male hormones (androgens) that help prostate cancer cells grow and spread.
Xtandi 40mg Tablets are commonly prescribed for:
- Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC)
- Metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC)
- High-risk non-metastatic prostate cancer
Enzalutamide blocks androgen receptors and prevents cancer cells from receiving signals needed for growth. This helps slow down the progression of prostate cancer.
- Usual recommended dose: 160mg once daily
- Usually taken as four 40mg tablets together once a day
- Can be taken with or without food
- Swallow tablets whole with water
- Use only under the supervision of a qualified doctor
